Any unique ideas for interior headliner?
Does anyone have any interesting ideas or pictures, yes, pictures are needed...of cool / unique /weird / wonderful / interestingly executed Headliners?
Not sure anyone does much beyond install a new one? Any other ideas? I think this applies to non-sunroof, but open to seeing Sunroof cars as well. Thanks

The qualities the stock headlineer brings are: acoustic, cleanability, and thin, so that it can be glues around the windshield and window flanges.
The holes help the interior vent thru the rear roof vent, but an open weave fabric could do that without punched holes. So any fabric that's not prone to mold and is good in humid conditions and is thin, would work using the stock hoops. That opens a LOT of possibilities. I'm not sure where the line on thickness gets drawn as too thick for wrapping around the flanges. Now, if you change the mounting method and do away with the steel rood/hoop things, you could shape foam and glue in a wide array of things, such as alcantera.

Interesting ideas:
A ‘starlight’ headliner (a la some current Rolls Royce cars) with fiber optic (or whatever lighting) in some of the ventilation pinholes Paisley, a la Chrysler Mod Tops. Tartan on the seats only isn’t enough! See the interior of the Pierre Cardin Javelin You asked! ![]()

I installed a simple red felt in my outlaw, just to help with the drumming, like the 911R’s did.

Can you share more. What kind of felt? Did you simply cut and glue to the roof metal? And does it control road noise? I was thinking a think batting/foam cut and glued to roof. Then an alcantara or other glued to that for a slight squishy feel (if one touches the roof). Thanks |

I glued it right to the roof, no padding. The car is a former race car and it’s pretty loud, it helps enough. The 911R’s used this red felt, and when we did restorations on them, we sourced it from TRE in Van Nuys I believe.
