Replacing mangled airbox
This is about a 1988 G50.
The previous owner of my car, or their mechanic, seems to have cut a large chunk of plastic out of the rear of the air filter housing. It's the engine side, so it is potentially letting dirt past the filter. I am mystified why someone would do this, but maybe they were trying to get to a hose behind it. See the blue ribbon in the picture below, it says Uro. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1628042114.JPG I am wondering if it is really difficult to remove the damaged part or not. If I decide I DGAF about originality and/or it turns out to be NLA, or I just can't put it back together, is there an easy way to connect a conical style filter directly (not a K&N)? |
was the engine out recently?
Anyway to remove it is easy...hose clamp then you have 3x 10mm wrench nuts..2 phillips screws on the right side which hold the breather hoses onto the bracket ..disconnect the wire plug and remove Ivan |
Jared,
I've got a new airbox, check you PM, I just sent you a message. |

It turns out the plastic is all there, it's just the part with the phillips screws is broken off, so I don't know whether it just got old and brittle or what. I can't see how it would have any great amount of stress, with the flexible hose attached. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1628119631.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1628119755.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1628119779.jpg |
