how to anticipate worn clutch
Is there a way to know how good/bad the condition is of the clutch in a 1986 911 3.2?
Not that I have a problem, but it would be good to be warned that a clutch change is due. Especially because I bought the car a year ago, so I had no clue what the condition is. |

Clutch adjustment on a 86 911 is done with feeler blades at the trans. A quality Porsche repair shop should be able to give you a general idea based on a visual inspection of the adjustment.
Normal average mileage on that style and year clutch is about 85,000 miles/136,000km

Alex .if you have a chance to lift your 911 and take a picture of your clutch arm i could tell you what is the km on it and how much you have left on it;-)
Ivan something like this https://cdn4.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/101_Projects_Porsche_911/09-Clutch_Cable/images_small/pic2.JPG

Dont fix what isnt broken. As soon as it gives you a problem is the time. When it starts to slip or grind or the throwout bearing growls. Of if you have the engine out already then atleast check it

Something not worth stressing over.
Also, when it is at maximum adjustment and starts slipping LOL
