3.0 in 69 body
Is it a big ordeal to put a 81 sc motor/tranny in a 69 coupe. Would any of the wiring watch up? What all would have to be done here. I have a 3.0 and 915 but i don't have a car to put it in yet. I really like the look of the earlier car, but i dont know how much trouble it is to use one.

You will need a conversion flywheel for the 901 transmission. They are available from Kennedy Engineered Products in Palmdale CA.
Be careful of the 1st gear burnouts......

80sc - I don't think it's too hard in a '69. I had it done in my '74 - it's fairly straightforward swap. I'm not sure about the 901 transmission that would come with a '69, and how it might hook up, but everything else should work.
Pull all the smog off the SC motor. You also might have to get a new exhaust system - i.e. SSIs and a dual-in muffler. Also, you might want to upgrade your rear torsion bars to compensate for the added weight of the SC motor. If the SC motor doesn't hook up to your 901, you do have that 915 transmission. Is the 915 from an SC too?

I already have a 915 tranny. Can this bolt up to the drivetrain?

If you can, check out the ring and pinion on your 915. I have a 7.31 in mine, which turns my SC motor into a scalded cat. I touch the gas and the thing's almost to 5K RPMs before I can blink.

Its moderately straight forward. If you must use a '69, get an E, as it is already set up for fuel injection. The transmission mostly fits - nothing a hammer doesn't fit. A 915 has a different clutch actuation, so you need to deal with that (need the whole clutch mech with the 915). Just a bunch of things to deal with, but it can be done. Search under "911pcars" as a name and 915 swap in the keyword. Sherwood Lee has done it - I paid someone. Lots of small issues - I have a 69T and it made it trickier (car didn't have Bosch CDI or combo gauges, and speedo for SC needed (electronic)). Even with the combo gauges, you need an old style oil pressure sender to match the gauge. You should add an external oil cooler. So 69E (don't do it to an S please), or 70-73 probably easier. 72/73 had a 915, so even less issue. (Edit) - OK I rambled, but I don't really know all the answers - I just discussed them with the mechanic. Much of the wiring does match, but it isn't a small undertaking (I think '69 wiring not as easy at 70-73). Oh, torsion bars - I went to 21/27. I considered sticking with stock front and 25 (Carrera?) rear (already in the car). I have 205 tyres all round.
