Silver Prototipo

I am looking for a silver Momo Prototipo in excellent condition. I have also posted this ad in the classified section.

Thanks,

I have seen a number of these come up on EBAY from time to time. You might check there as well.

I believe Momo has re-released the Prototipo after being out of production for quite a few years.

Momo did re-release the Prototipo but it's slightly different and designated "Mod 7". It's got three black spokes with a suede rally-style wheel cover complete with yellow stripe at 12 o'clock. (I've been doing some steering wheel shopping lately.)

Apparently, when the previous all-black Prototipo wheel was discontinued, Performance Products bought the entire stock from Momo and jacked-up the price, making a $200 wheel cost closer to $400.

If you're patient, you can still get these Momo Prototipos on EBAY for a reasonable price. I just picked up an NOS wheel with black spokes (not the suede Mod7) for around $180. I still believe there are lots of these NOS wheels out there, and the sellers just trickle them out on EBAY every so often. I'd never spend $350-400 for one; that's both ridiculous and "highway" robbery. Talk about a criminal markup. Just my opinion of course.

Sandy, no no no. The Prototipo and the Mod .07 are completely different wheel.

When I said Momo re-released the Prototipo I meant the real Prototipo that we all know and love. I confirmed this today - the Prototipo is back.

I forget that Pelican carries these too, and at $200, it's a good deal/fair price.

COMPLETELY UNTRUE!!! Where do people get this information from?!?!?

As it happens, Pelican bought all of Momo's current remaining stock on these wheels (50+), and we now sell it (the Prototipo Wheel, not the Mod 07) for $199 in our catalog...

Good luck...! I searched long and hard for one. Probably called to two dozen places. Started looking in Italy and Japan. No luck!

These are getting hard to find. The black ones are a dime a dozen!

I purchased my silver spoked prototipo wheelf from a gentleman in Ohio. He had two NOS silver Prototipo wheels. One new, and one with a scratch in the leather. Guess which one I bought? The other might be available.

Apparently he bought over 1,000 NOS Momo and Nardi wheels from a distributor in Italy some years ago.

Here is a link to his e-bay auction for a black one...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&category=33704

Contact him, as he may still have the other silver wheel.

Or you could buy a black one from Wayne and remove the anodizing or paint the spoke silver.

It does look sweet doesn't it?...

i bought a silver one on ebay for $105. the seller was from japan. it was listed as momo wheel only - not prototipo. so in yur search be sure to enter "momo wheel". also, be careful in buying a silver one as the older ones tend to discolor - turn a bit yellow.

The NZ distributor had them last I checked (in silver spokes only). Cheap too - but they may be factory seconds.

Haha, I've got two. One in the BMW and one in a box (plus the one from the BMW (which is black spoked and getting old)).

Concorde Trading is the name of the place. Ooops. Just checked and they are no longer in the phone book. I wonder what has happened...
