Does anyone make a 'heat shield' dash mat?
Just replaced the leather dash in my '86 turbo.
I'd like to find a dash mat that actually keeps the sun/heat off of the new leather. Maybe with a reflective foil under the cover? Will I have to settle for a full windscreen cover with reflective material - like Coverking? |
I believe just a regular dash mat would work just fine, maybe a lighter color than black. Think you just want to avoid direct sunlight on the dash. It’s really hard on the leather
Good luck |
If you need to leave it parked out in the sun the reflective windshield screens will lower the inside temperature of the whole car as well.

I actually like the Cover King better. Keeps the whole car just a bit cooler. Of course I don’t leave the car outside, except for short periods, like an hour and a half tops…

You might be able to find a local shop that will put a clear tint film on the inside of your windshield - this will keep a lot of UV light off the dash. I had this done to all windows save the windshield on my Saab 900 - too much curvature in the windshield to be confident putting film on it
