Any acceptable aftermarket sunroofs for 70T?

Is there any aftermarket sunroofs that would be acceptable to put in my mostly original 1970 911T.
Would this ruin the car for anyone?
Would this be looked on as poor taste?
It's not like it would ruin the value as 70T's are pretty cheap the way it is.
My car is a good driver with a few dings and 99,600 miles on the motor.

Hopefully this doesn't rub anybodies fur the wrong way, but I love convertables and sunroofs. I love to look up(quickly at the stars on a warm clear night. I also love my car and don't want to sell it and get a another 911Targa that might be full of problems.
All opinions are appreciated. Thanks

I don't know about you all, but I'd think about one of those accordion style canvas slider jobs. They are cool. We have one new in the box in the basement waiting for the right car. Our mechanic installed one in his SAAB 96 and it's sweet. I thought about it for my Volvo but I can't cut up such an original and oddball car. But a common 911t... I could do that. It would be unique. Email me if you want the contact info for the company.

Well, yes and yes, but since you go on to say that you don't want to sell it, what the hey? Does the car have any rust? If so, you have my permission to cut the whole roof off, your car is down in the used Hyundai value range already. If it's a nice dry coupe, you should sell it for $8-10,000 and buy one w/ a sunroof, IMO.

That's probably the best idea I will get as far as a sunroof.

Don't worry purists! I was hoping someone would give me the address to Porsche business that installed sunroofs reproduced from originals. Geez guys, I'm not going to butcher my car with a sunroof from AutoZone. I should have been more specific in my question.

I should probably just sell the TR-6 and get a another 911 with a Targa.

Check with some of the dismantlers. Parts Heaven, Silver Star, Dart Auto etc. I would think an OEM would be easiest to install and it would look correct.

The guys at Dart are super nice and so are their prices.

You can buy a clip from a parts car and have the whole roof installed. Probably not worth the time and effort unless you can weld.

Here's a link to one for sale on the 911 T registry-

You have a desirable car there (no sunroof), even though it is "only" a T. If it is rust free, there are plenty of people that would love to use it as the beginnings for an R Gruppe or track car. While it is your car and you can gets the sawzall if you so desire, you might consider that without the sunroof your car is somewhat more 'special' than with whatever you might install.

yeah, I wouldn't think a majority of early cars - let alone "T's" - would have sunroofs. When you get to the SC's and 3.2 Carreras then yes. But not the early cars.

I think in the early cars sunroofs are kinda rare. I have one and Jim richards has one but I haven't seen many others with them.

Step away from the car! Now, slowly, put down the Sawzall and repeat after me, "I will not butcher my car...I will not butcher my car..."

Don't do it!

I think it really depends. if it was an ultra low milage car that was all original worth big bucks I'd say dont do it. But it really is no big deal to get a roof from another car and put it on your car. If you call around I'm sure you would find a sunroof roof that someone replaced with a non sunroof roof.

The biggest issue with sunroofs is the weight they add up high and the headroom you lose because of it, that said my R Gruppe/ Track car has a sunroof and I have no intention of getting rid of it. When taking those spirited drives along Angeles Crest, I love having the sunroof cracked open, the windows down and the sound of that six filling the interior. For the track I lowered my seat braket about two inches so head room with a helmit is no issue.

Put me down for "don't do it" (or "do it factory").

If you like a sunroof, surely a targa is even better anyway?

Don't do it.

You'll have a harder time selling it because the non-sunroof coupes are popular track cars. The PO of my car selected it because it was a non-sunroof coupe.

Thanks for all the responses. Chances are I would have backed out of before cutting it anyway. I just needed someone to change my mind for me. It is a rust free car with good documentation from the mid 70's.

Point made and I appreciate it.

Can you guys talk my wife into a buying a Targa without selling the 70T
