Is this a real special edition 1978 SC

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2414579298&category=10156

Is this a real car from Porsche, or some dealers added stickers?

Michael

What do you think it is worth?

Looks like the MARTINI RACING EDITION.. I liken it to the EDDIE BAUER edition of Ford's explorer.. something like that, a lot better car though.

Wow.. that interior is bright! I like it and I wouldn't change a thing on it. I'd drive around looking like Condorman!

Yeah, it is just an appearance package as far as I know to commemorate the Martini 935, I think. Just stickers and special colors. I kinda like it though.

One thing that I think is funny from the ad is "anti-lock brakes". Uh, sure.

Ditto on the engine pad. I guess not replacing it would keep it stock, geez.

Well, it's probably worth what any '78 is worth assuming it is in the same shape that you would expect of a 21K mile car, but I think you will pay a tad more because of the color scheme. If I had to chose between two nearly identical cars with one in guards red and one of the Martini cars I would probably be willing to pay an extra grand for the Martini car. It is different and has the color scheme in common with the Martini Racers, granted most non Porsche people probably wouldn't get it and even some Porschephiles, but hey, I wouldn't be driving it for them.

19 might not be a bad price, but you could probably pay less. Cars with that few miles are getting harder to find and many people believe that miles that low are actually worse than a car that is somewhat regularly driven.

I posted this in another thread last night, but I'll add it again here - I'm still in a bit of shock about it.

I bought an 85 Carrera Targa last month - one owner, documents, 25,000 miles. Got an appraisal for insurance reasons and it came in the mail yesterday. It said:

"This is one of the nicest 85 Porsche Targas probably in existence. It is in absolutely pristine condition with few noticable flaws. Retail value $25,000 - $27,000"

The appraisal was done by a well known, reputable, high end used sportscar dealership that sell lots of P cars.

The problem now is, should I be driving the thing?

I believe I've seen that same scheme on a 924. Perhaps a '78?

I could only find information that Porsche sold it in the Martini theme on the 924, so this might be someones crack on it.
