Need Help Compomotive Split rims??

ok so my rear tire developed a leak around the bead so I took it to a local tire shop (big mistake) and asked them to clean the rim and reset. unfortunately they didn't realize it was a split rim and try to dismount like a regular common rim and totally destroyed the inner and outer bead, pics to follow. (thankfully they didn't damage the rim)

anyway $500 later 335/35 ZR17 I took apart myself and completely cleaned the rim parts. now time to remount. however, I need help sealing the 2 parts of the rim on the inside. I'm sure new they had a nice rubber gasket but I searched and searched and can't find anything. the last owner or mechanic used Loctite silicon sealant. I'm sure that will work but I was thinking of something more professional. Any suggestions??

Sorry to hear that happened. I'm also finding that you have to be very careful which shop you take your wheels to. I had a rim ruined by an experienced shop recently ...

Show us some pics of what you have. If the seals aren't available, it is possible to use silicone sealer instead. In fact some wheel manufacturers assemble their wheels that way new. Apparently it's important to use the right kind of sealer, the Home Depot stuff can attack aluminum. I did some wheels this way a few years ago.

Clean surfaces, silicone sealer & proper torqueing is what a custom tire shop does.
Mount & balance with the right equipment is necessary.
In SoCal we are blessed with a lot of custom wheel guys and some good shops.
Low riders, custom trucks & Porsches have a lot of the same needs

clean, assemble, torque, masking tape leaving a 1/2" gap for silicon bead, squirt, press down bead with wet finger (glove, wet with alcohol) leave to cure

do not put sealant on mating surfaces

Also be sure to follow a bolt torque pattern. Tighten gradually following a pattern. And then go for a final torque to factory specs.

Any ideas what would be a proper torque spec for these? I have no idea where to find that info

BTW thanks for the pattern very helpful!

Sounds like good advice above on sealing and torqueing.

Re: torque value, are they 6mm bolts? I believe BBS recommends 11 ft-lbs if I recall correctly, and I think Gotti is similar. You might consider getting new ones. BBS sells the 6mm bolts in various lengths and you know they're good quality. Don't use regular grade hardware.
