I use a magnet to hold the lever up in place. I go through the starter hole
As I’m sliding the trans on, I keep looking and adjusting. Some guys use tape to hold it in place Bruce |

Zip tie through the pressure plate fingers and around the upper fork lever. Easy to snip off later.

John's zip tie method sounds much better than the factory recommended use of tape.

You need to bend a curve in the leading end so it will exit in the right place.

Going through this right now, @john walker's workshop when you say "bend a curve in the leading end" you mean of the zip tie so it doesn't get hung up on removal / easy to grab and not fall back inside?

The curve is so when you slip the zip tie through the pressure plate finger, you can get it to come out on the other side of the fork so you can grab it.
