Alternator Fan Replacement Question

Hello I have an 86 3.2 Targa and looking to replace my alternator fan and clean the inside of the alternator fan housing. To remove just the fan is this fairly easy or do you have have to remove the entire fan housing from the engine to remove the fan? Again I just need to replace the fan. Thanks for any advice. Cheers

Not a difficult job but the fan, fan housing and alternator come out as an assembly. Then on a bench you can separate the 3 pieces. Disconnect the battery first and mark where the wires are attached to the rear of the alternator. Search how to separate the parts, there are several methods described in the forum and they can be a bit stubborn at times.
