Driver side Power mirror works up, down, out but not in
 

As the title suggests, when I operate the power mirror it will move up, down and out but it isn't pulling the mirror in towards the car window (if that makes sense). The motor is operating but the mirror isn't moving.

My car doesn't have the ring style mirror glass but rather it has the 3 prongs that hold the mirror glass into the housing? I don't see any way to service the motor as it's covered in a rubber boot. Anyone ever deal with this and if so what was the fix? New motor assembly?

Tried a new switch yet?

It's not the switch. The motor is running with the switch pulled to bring the mirror in. The mirror just isn't moving with the motor running. I don't know what's inside that makes the mirror move and can't see how to access anything.

Have you tried giving the base/mirror a nudge to start it going?

Okay so here's the rundown. I figured I can't break something that's already broken.... So the metal plate is held to the mechanism that moves the mirror by 4 rivets. You can see three rivets in the first picture. The forth is under the piece of tape. Once you remove the rivets you get to the table that the petal plate pivots on. The table is operated by a string that winds around a barrel at the head of motor. There's a solenoid that moves a forward/reverse selector that allows the string to be wound more to one side than the other which moves table around. It's kinda hard to describe but anyhow, the string was pinched. The problem, when getting the string freed up, the string broke. Now! I could just route a new string through the whole mess... but It'll be easier to just buy a new mirror. Cheaper? No But easier? Definitely.

Here's more: The plastic that holds the motor, barrel and solenoid is held to the mirror housing by three screws. You have to pull the rubber boot back to see these screws. Once you remove the screws, the motor and pivot assembly will come out. You can take a screwdriver and pop the plastic housing apart which exposes the inner workings. It is "serviceable" to the extent that if you know how many winds go around each side of the barrel this could probably be fixed.
