Too rich at cold start
1981 US 911SC
Have had a hard cold start for some time now. Several cranks before starting up cold. In an effort to test if the TTS/CSV, I disconnected the two wires (yellow AND ground) from the TTS (preventing the CSV from getting ground). Then held a test lamp to the yellow wire, while my wife started the car. Fired up immediately cold... Has since had no cold start problems with TTS disconnected (both wires unplugged) i.e. CSV disabled. I saw some other similar posts about this, but no one left a solution. My guess is that the mixture is too rich. Causing flooding with CSV active. WUR seems fine - 1.4 bar cold, 3.4 bar warm. Residual is good. I run the car without the O2 sensor hooked up. Have an AFR meter in its place. Idle/cruise = ~13.8 afr. Used Gunson to get CO% to 2.0. Car does not exhibit any rich behavior while driving (idle surging, etc.). Is it possible the CSV is giving "too much" fuel? Or do I need to lean out the mixture? |

Did you test that the frequency valve is working?
