How to bring my nimbleness back to my 911 SC?
 

My 1982 911 sc is ready for new tires. Running 245 45 16 on 9 x 16's the rear and 205 55 16 on 7 x 16 on the front. There doesn't seem to be many options for tires.

Im looking for a softer nimbler ride.

Two options-
1. Get a pair of 6x16 Fuchs for the front and put the 7x16 fuchs in the rear. Tires 205 55 16 front and 225 50 16 rear
2. Run 6x15 fuchs for the front and 7x15 fuchs in the rear Tires??

I had a few early 911's and I liked that nimbleness. My set up now is great for the track, (which I don't do) but harsh on our roads.

Any other suggestions?

I run 6 and 7s on my 83 after selling my 8s. Finding 245/45 tires was a pain and at double the price that I used to pay for Kumhos. To keep the same track width I added one inch spacers front and rear with 205/45 and 225/45s on the rear. Still the same brand tire.

BTW, I got stupid money for the 8s, you should do so as well with your 9s.

Which do you want softer or nimbler? They are antithetical goals

The early cars, thru ''73 might feel a bit nimbler but that is mostly a matter of lower polar moment in the front and secondarily the back, each lb lost from the front bumper reduces polar moment by 8.8 lb-ft, each lb lost from the rear bumper reduces polar moment by 5.2 lb-ft

a wheel tire combination w/ a quicker response curve will also help, a 225/45 on an 8 is best in front but a 205/50 on the 7s isn't too far behind and is slightly better than 205/55 on the same 7. But the /50 won't be as comfy

digressive valve stack will also go along way toward both comfy ride and nimbler performance

if going to an 8 in back 205/50 on the 7s and 225/45 on the 8s is the way to go, though again this set up won't be as comfy as 205/55 and 225/50 on the same 7 & 8s
