paintless dent removal

Care to share your experiances? How about for an over-extended door panel and small quarter size dents in the engine lid?

Thanks.

I've used it on a couple of P- cars with very good results. I had a pretty good size ding in my left front fender ( 1") that was cleaned up pretty good on my SC.
I would get some referrals from a Porsche dealership for a good tech.
I had a fender bender a little while back and got rid of what was left of that ding for good with a new fender. That's another approach but you have to aim for the correct fender.
cheers

My wrench has a guy he has been using for years and says he is the only one in the city he will let touch his cars. He did ~$250 of work to mine and it is dent free. Actually he is going to do some work on my dent ridden Toyota. Not sure about using these guys for an over-extended door panel, but should be the thing for quarter size dents. I had a guy try to do some work on my original paint '67 and he was afraid that the paint would crack and quit.

The first thing I did was call the Porsche dealer and ask for a recommendation. The guy I used is almost what I would call a miracle worker.
Be careful - there are a lot of novices out there. Any of the good ones will have a list of happy clients available.

Experience makes a huge diff. Find someone who has been in it for years, not months. I've been using the same guy for 5 years and had 8ish cars done. His work is amazing.

Allright, I have some personal experience with this as my brother has been doing this for 6 years now, and he's one of the hail guys who gets called all around the country to dealerships hit by hail storms so he knows what he's doing.

There are a LOT of really inexperienced guys getting in on what they see as an 'easy money' game. Get recomendations from the dealers in your area (not just the P-car dealer but other 'high-line' dealers like MB, BMW, Jag, etc.) and then talk to the guy. Ask him if he's ok with you watching him work, and then go watch him work. Make sure he knows how to properly remove door panels and that the headliner goes back up absolutely perfectly. Some of these guys grab a blade, cut the 'liner and then tack it back up under the seals and seams...which lasts for about 6 months or so as you might imagine.

Get a couple of spare clips for any interior panels that will have to be removed, if one is damaged during removal these guys can't carry spares for every car so they use a generic that fits-ish.

Make sure the guy is ok with you asking questions about what he's doing and don't be afraid to tell him 'no' if you don't like the approach to a dent (sometimes drilling is required to get to a specific dent, that's the nature of the beast) and then decide if you want a hidden hole or to live with the dent.

It takes patience to get it done perfectly and if you find a guy you like and you can trust you can omit any of the steps you want, but it's just a couple of ideas!

Good luck!

I called the Porsche dealer and he gave me the number of the guy that does their work. I had three small door dings and he took them out and the results are excellent. I would do it again a heart beat.

I second most of the above. I was leery at first but talked with the P-car dealership and they recommended a particular "talent" at Dent Wizard. Took the car to see him and not only did he remove 2 small dings perfectly in a hard to get to part of the door without drilling any holes, he touch-up painted a couple of door edge dings for a very reasonable cost and it only took a lunchtime.

When I purchased my P-Car it had 4 door dings in the driver's side door. After living with them for a year, I went to a paintless repair place. I returned in 60 minutes and the dings were gone!

Not cheap for an hours work, but still well worth it.
