What is This?..

Long time Porsche guy, little experience in the 1975-1988 years, and I’m looking to purchase a 1988 911. The attached picture is of the engines lower right bank exhaust.

What is this dog food can looking thing? Is it a shield for a Lamda Sensor (O2)?

So John, dog food can...or heat shield? My '82 lacks both, so....was the factory Alpo or KalKan or Bosch?

Probably more of a gravel guard than heat shield.

That's where you keep your road beer when doing a valve adjustment.

Found one in my driveway years ago and chucked it. Still rolling, no issues.
