what is a good way to clean fuel tank
My car has been layed up for over two years and I will be re-installing the engine etc. in the next week or so. I didn't plan on having it layed up so long so I didn't top off the fuel before I parked it. I am concerned I may have some junk or varnish in there. Is there a good product to run through the tank? I would prefer not to take it out and boil it or anything so drastic as that.

My car sat for 2 years and I lucked out. All I really needed to do was change the filter, drain the tank and flush the old gas out. Pull your gas tank level sender and take a look to see how bad it is first.

I can drain the tank ...I made a tool w/ a bolt and a couple of nuts. If there seems to be some varnish and junk what is a good way to flush the tank. ...clean fuel, kerosine ???

remove the float assy & inspect the tank carefully with a light and mirror or a borescope if you have one. The fiber endoscopes that surgeons use are fabulous for this, but I doubt you can get a loaner....
If its nasty in there, you'll need to get the treatments made for this problem from Eastwood or smoe where. |

I sell products into surgery centers and have been looking for a scope w/ some broken fibers that are not suitable for medical use. Hopefully everything looks good ...probably will. I replaced the tank about 6 or 7 yrs ago due to rust in my old one.
