G50 gearbox shifter loose on my "88 911 Carrera

Is there a detailed video or tech article that shows how to correct shifting sloppiness in the G 50 gearbox including bushing replacement, etc?

First you have to remove it from the tunnel. Then it's obvious.

Any additional words of wisdom or specific cautions you would like to share other than what you posted? I already have some cut knuckles and bruises from the removal of the console and the electrical connections. What a hassle. Thanks again "megerian."

I installed the JWest stiffer bushing kit on my 89 and it did make a big difference.Although if i remember drilling out the fasteners for the OEM bushings was painful !

That was a few years ago ...

There is so much good advice in that thread- follow all the suggestions. The very last post that reminds you to put it in first or third gear is very important, and get a helper to force the shift rod rearward. Good luck!
