Windshield wiper problem
Hi All, I've just finished a full restoration of a 1971 911T.
I have trouble with my wipers. They go down before they go up when started. That means the park location is higher than the lowest point. My guess is that the motor shaft is off by 90°. First, would you agree? Second, do you have any images showing ingoing axle or any hints on to get to this? Is this a fine splined assembly or is it a square making 90° adjustments? I know I would have to remove the fan assembly but hope not to have to take the whole wiper assembly out. This will be some fun to do in the winter here in Sweden :I Thanks for any input, Jörgen Forssling Gothenburg SWEDEN http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1631963264.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1631963264.JPG |
It's splined, not square. Can definitely be adjusted. You may be able to get to it from the inside through the gauge holes.
Run the wipers and then turn them off so that they park. Then loosen the nut that holds the lever arm to the shaft, and re-position the arm to point directly to the side. Yours is now probably pointing a bit up. |

And looking at some images and films of when I had my wiper motor assembly out I think I assumed right (as you confirm) that the lever is off. //Jörgen |
Yes gauge hole to access the nut, Wayne got this wrong in his book. Also consider parking the wipers on the passenger side.

Since your there... Nice not to have them parked in front of the driver. |
Except you don't have to go thru the front trunk or remove the blower motor......

Now it’s fixed!
Thanks everyone, Jörgen |
