83 SC passenger mirror wiring
Ive searched and found a lot of different posts but none match the wiring of my mirrors. Most indicate a black / yellow wire but mine is just black. Drivers side works fine but passenger side clicks when driver side is moved. When I switch to the passenger side, it just clicks like a starter on a car with a dead battery. The driver side clicks as well. They worked fine before paint. I know grey/green is one of the heater lines and they are not connected to the mirror so shouldnt be an issue. Ive matched the colors ie blue to blue, white to white, black to black and brown to brown. I tried swapping blue and black and no change. Any suggestions? My mirror has a yellow / brn wire that doesnt match the plug.

My 86 sc exhibits the same clicking behavior that I haven't tried to fix yet. Hopefully someone has the answer!

The Yellow/Brown is a ground IIRC. I'll see if I can find the wiring schematic and post here. You've got mail. I emailed you a wiring schematic.
I think I have pics from when I recently changed out my left side mirror. If I find them I'll email those to you as well. No pics! If I get time I'll pull my mirror and take a pic of the wiring. I have to do some work to my drivers side mirror anyhow. Am I seeing things? It looks like in your picture you have the blue wire from the car going to the black wire for the mirror and the black wire from the car going to the blue wire for the mirror.

Does anyone know if the left or right motor unit is different? I thought I kept them separate when I stripped the car for paint and they definitely look the same.

The mirrors are left and right. You can't really swap them side for side because of the mirror heat wires. And I think the single pin that holds the mirror onto the metal plate always goes to the side closest to the window. I'll go pull my mirror and send you some pics.

I have tested the motor & solenoid on the passenger mirror from this post. All is good.
How to test a flag mirror motor with a 9V battery. |

You can rotate them 180 so the holes for the heat are inboard on both sides. My question was really is the wiring different from left to right mirrors.

You "can" but if you rotate them the hole in the rubber that would otherwise be down would now be up. As for wiring, I'll try to get pics tomorrow. I got tied up working on brakes on my son's car and changing a wheel bearing on one of my own cars. I think the wiring is the same.

One of mine has no hole. I did mount the one with the hole down assuming it was drainage of some sort.

Further update on this. Ive verified continuity from the dash switch to the passenger door and from the adjuster switch to the dash switch. From further testing there is no power to the passenger door on the blue and black wire which control direction. Does anyone know where the passenger mirror gets power. The connections in the frunk to the fenders are good. Both mirrors work when plugged into the drviers side.
