Help needed after Rennline steering bushing replacement

Hi all-
After my factory steering bushing disintegrated in my ‘78SC this summer, I researched and purchased the Rennline replacement from our host Pelican. Installment went smoothly although I wasn’t quite sure why it was designed with the Allen head threaded posts. I tapped it into the factory bearing (which seems to spin nicely) until seated, left the Allen posts threaded inside their nylon holes, reinstalled the C clip and wheel. Went for a drive today and everything felt great but I hadn’t aligned my steering wheel quite right, so I pulled it to turn it a spline to the right... and that’s when I heard the C clip fall off the steering shaft. Sure enough it was bent just enough not to stay in place, and had been gouging the new nylon bushing. I used the threaded rods to push the Rennline bushing off the steering shaft (is that why they’re there?) and the bushing had also been scraping on the steering shaft bearing housing.
What am I missing about the new nylon bushing placement and position?
My thought is that I drive the bushing completely down, then use the threaded posts to lift it just a hair out of the steering bearing housing (so it doesn’t scrape) then retract the posts so THEY don’t scrap on the bearing, fix my bent C clip and install that so the bushing can’t retract UP the column, and install wheel again?
Sorry for the long-winded explanation just not sure why the new bushing was getting munched!
Thanks

The screws are only for removal. Looks to me like you did not remove the star washer before assembly. Was that not in the instructions?

@Flintstone, thank you for your reply. I just re-watched your video (and yes I even watched it when I realized what was wrong, and then ordered the new bushing!) but somehow by the time the part arrived and I was able to install it, I completely forgot about the star washer. I did NOT remove it, (you can still see it in my photos) and I definitely think this is my issue. Many thanks, I'll do it right this time!
Cheers-
