M&K Exhaust…Glorious Music!!!

Finally got my car back from the body shop…Last year I had a full M&K exhaust installed, and then dropped it off at the body shop on the same day it was picked up. Had the exhaust installed before the body work…needed to account for the dual outs.

I’m so excited about the car’s look after the body work….but the sound is F*CKING AWESOME! Sorry for the profane shouting, but I love it. It is loud…with a deleted A/C and windows down, a little more so. The sound is like driving in the Steve McQueen movie Le Mans.

If you’re in the market for a new exhaust system, HIGHLY recommend you give them consideration! It really is a joy.

I have a M&K on my car. It is impossible to start it up and drive without smiling. Parking garages and tunnels are a blast.

Glad you’re happy with yours!

Agree 100%. SSI and 2-1 M&K exhaust is hands down the best bang for the buck upgrade I’ve done to my car. My only regret is not doing it sooner.

Yep, I don't think I'll use another brand on my Porsches again. The fitment, weight, build quality, and sound are all remarkable. Given the age of my car, I expected a fight to get it to fit but the adjustable tip made installation a 5 minute breeze.

It's loud when you want it but it doesn't drone and it's not obnoxious at 3500 or below.

Is this muffler the MKM27? Been waiting for the new MKM27ST to come out but I like the sound of yours too.

Thanks

I have the M&K dual-in, single-out.

Here is a video I took this past weekend:

I love it.

Agree on good looks and sounds, but according to website, its more the sport sound which is louder then stock? Curious to know sound level at idle?

Mr Bonus

Which M&K did you use, you state <3500 is less aggressive, would you equate to stock muffler (versus a sport). My issues are how loud mine is even at idle or low RPM...havnt been able to figure out what type of muffler it is..but definitely not stock (probably dansk sport is my guess, even my mechanic couldnt tell)

I get a heavy burble (close to backfire) on decel which my mechanix suggests is a broken baffler in the exhaust so have to decide if i pull the trigger for 1000 and put new in or not

Yes, did tests on A/F mixture and decel valve and no vacuum leaks)

Hey Funracer, I'm not 100% sure which one it is. It is an older model when I think they only made 1 version of the 2-1 which I believe equates to the louder of the two current offerings. Brian aka RarelyL8 could probably tell you definitively.

I think it is just right sound wise. Sometimes when I'm out hammering around the backroads I feel like I wouldn't mind it being a little louder but when I've got the kids in the back going to soccer practice it's not obnoxious or unpleasant for them in the back.

It is pretty loud on cold start and my kid's bedroom is right above the garage so if I leave early in the morning I'll pull the emergency latch on the garage door opener, lift the door, put the car in neutral, push it out of the garage, and let it roll down the driveway. It seems like a pain in the rear but any day I get to drive the 911 is a good day so I don't really mind the extra couple minutes.

Here is another video where the owner used some fancy recording equipment and I feel it captures the sound I hear in real life quite well.

It is much noticeably louder than stock (which is very, very tame) at idle and low RPM but I wouldn't consider it LOUD.

I haven't actually measured the dB since my neighbors are car people and our houses are pretty far apart.

M&K Exhaust…Glorious Music!!!

I purchased a M&K ‘Active Exhaust’ this past spring and it sounds excellent! What I like about it is it’s activated by engine load which opens a valve and bypasses the muffler (this is very similar to Sport Exhaust option offered by Porsche but there is no on/off switch on the dash). It’s using OEM headers and muffler with a very throaty sound. When I’m cruising it’s very quiet in the cabin but when I stomp on the gas it opens up to a glorious sound. Highly recommend this option.
