1971 heat/defrost control vs 1984

Is there anything different between the lwb unit and the Carrera unit other than the faceplate? Could you use the mechanical side of a newer unit with the faceplate of a lwb? Anybody know?

Not helpful if you have both pieces in hand, but I think Rennline might make a backdate faceplate for the later cars

Yeah the rennline faceplate is art of the plan for sure. Just trying to figure out if the mechanics are the same.

I have a 1981 HVAC control with a Rennline face plate on my car. Had to drill out the rivets and replace them with the bolts that came with the kit.
