Oil cooler options early 911 1967

My other post re my oil tank. ( Getting it ultrasonic cleaned ).
Thanks to all for the advice.
Now my cooler.
Here in Australia I'm unable to get it cleaned to a level that I'm happy with.
I've looked at and flushed it. It looks perfect.
Am I correct that **** from this is filtered before entering my now clean oil tank and then clean oil to my pump.
These are about $2200 here in Australia. ( Genuine )
I can get one via Germany for about $1200 on eBay.
All of my enquiries point to the only one available is genuine.
So the German one ??? Seems cheap ?? Are there cheap copies floating around of dubious quality.
Thanks lyndon

Sorry to report but no, oil from cooler goes directly into motor.

Note there are two circulation loops.

They are as follows when at operating temperatures:

Scavenge Side: From the engine sump, through the scavenge side of the pump (if equipped, to the external oil cooler), through the filter and into the tank.

Pressure side: From the tank, into the pump, through the engine mounted cooler, to the cams, crankshaft, carrera tensioners and into the engine sump.

The trouble with that is GST.
Over $1000 AUD its collected at custom's.
They take a fortnight and send me a letter.
I then pay over $100 to have an interaction with them.
I then pay 10 percent on top.
I then wait another 4 weeks if I'm lucky and they release it.
On eBay 10 percent is collected at POS.
I get it direct.

My only way around is a third party
They on send at a value of under $ 700 USD nc shipping.
Customs don't grab it re the $1000 AUD rule.

Saw the Rennspeed repro on line after seeing your post. Can’t find any satisfied users though. Your call.

That's interesting.
I don't want to end up with a dud.
Wonder if someone can chime in with its quality.

Find an aircraft shop to ultrasonically clean your cooler. If it came from a running engine, there shouldn’t be any surprises.

I can't see how you can get aluminium out of it by ultrasonic cleaning it.
I'm thinking of cutting the tank off.
Cleaning it properly and welding it back on.
I have at hand the expertise of cutting and welding. A local radiator joint will have the appropriate rods and brushes.
Someone must have done this before.??

When I spoke with Jeff Gamroth (Rothsport Road and Race) about repairing my leaky cooler his response was that if I found someone let him know, he has a pile of them needing repair. I figure if he can’t find someone, I would be hard pressed to do so.

Cooler

Clean it with Ultrasonic then have it x-rayed.If there is anything left in there it will show up on the printout.Look for a friend who works in a hospital to shoot a picture. Then reinstall with confidence.Fred
