MFI - Cold start live feed

Hi all,

Can any one tell me where the live feed for the cold start valve (above the feul filter) on an MFI car comes from. I can't find any other connections for it.

Can I run a perminant live from the ignition to it?

Thanks in advance

Alan

I have used the wiring for the rear window heat. Ofcourse that disables the heat , but usually the window has lost continuity. Therefore, the wiring for the switch is already at the dash, then insert a momentary push switch, check for continuity at the engine bay and you are on!

My cold start was not functioning properly. It was bypassed and direct wired to a small button under the dash. This is a great solution if you aren't hung up on originality. When the car is cold I get it cranking and then give it a little squirt. It fires right up. I like having the ability to control it myself.

Thats a great idea, so thanks for that.
Just for refference where did it originaly connect too. Would it originally run of the starter motor feed, ie it squirts fuel as long as the enigne is cranking on the starter or is there another relay somewhere?

Thanks again

Alan,

It originally worked under a combination of a temperature switch and key in crank position. Like most, the system failed over time and I have gone manual with the system. I have just wired a momentary switch from a power lead on one of the three fuses in the rear electrical area to the solenoid. I just give it a squirt or two before cranking and it fires right up.

The details of the original circuit can probably be found in the wiring diagrams on this site.
