For early 911... Best place for sheet metal

In case it's ever needed my friend was asking what is the consensus for the best sheet metal out there? Fit, quality, customer help, etc?

Think of it like an aircraft ejector seat.

Factory location was eye bolts under the rear jump seats. Probably got cut out too.

No, that just means there is more to cut out before doing a proper fix. Also, if they took that shortcut, you have to worry about what else they did or did not do. I am seeing too many cars now with faked VIN stamps. Due diligence is required on verifying everything.

Due diligence, within 7 days, from across the country, while others are trying to do their due diligence, before you're even aware of what the final price is, and if you can buy the car at all...

There's a reason sellers flock to these auctions sites, and it's not just because of the wide net they cast.

After having bought and sold a few cars on them, I am all set with car auction sites. Seller beware of flakes and people who think they're bidding for the first right of refusal...Buyer beware of literally everything...If you can't drive it, don't even bid.

I can't even imagine. I've driven my son through our neighborhood, at speeds below 20 MPH, and I felt guilty about it and that's with a structurally sound car. I couldn't imagine taking children out on public roads in that thing. I'm appalled.

It's such a different market than it was ten years ago. Major mechanical or structural concerns on a purchased classic seem to often be a badge of honor to the new or uninitiated, especially in the flamboyant "look at me" circus of social media and the internet.

It's no surprise that you often see cars bought then resold within a year or two accompanied by a couple of multi-thousand dollar receipts from local mechanics.

I'm not really that concerned about the VW floors, may not look right but metal is metal.
A 912 wasn't worth much not that long ago, and replacing with genuine parts made little sense. What might be a concern is how the sills was repaired (if the floor is gone they are too) it was common to just replace the outer skin and not the inner structural part.

Still, it might be a good candidate for someone with skills to fix it.

Seen worse, seen a rotted out crashed 911 body grafted on to a VW chassie, registered as a VW. Its being rebuilt right now with almost all new metal...

Truth. I was eyeing a local 993 offered on BaT -- went to inspect/test drive, it was not half the car represented. Guy ended up telling me a heart break story of how he got taken the year before buying it off BaT. Had me scratching the head a little.
