911 sc clutch lever arm seized..any success with bearing puller?
My 911 sc clutch lever arm is seized stuck won't budge at all.
I took the small arm no problem. Mine doesn't have the roll pin to secure it. Been doing a bit of searching... looks like the bearing Puller is a good tool to pull it off the shaft. Anybody have success with it using the puller? Or any ideas? Don't really want to drop the engine again. Any help Much appreciated. Thanks . Ogi |

An air hammer with a short chisel bit can be angled above it. Leaves a notch but gets it off. I guess a puller would work too.

Eye protection is a good idea.

You can also use a wood wedge or equivalent and a healthy dose of elbow grease with the good ole mallet. Have at it and the arm will budge.
Oh wait, the engine's not out. Scratch that. |

i do it as John said but i use air hammer and solid pointed puncher in it.I go from the bottom of the shaft (there is actually little dip on it) and while i use the air hammer i put a screwdriver between the upper portion of the arm and the trans..the vibration and a little pull down will make it loose

( we'll stabilized and face protection) ![]() Doing the puller method. And no go. Looks like it just need a good thud and tug. Will try your method for sure. |

Well.. tried a lot of things today.
1. Bearing puller 2. Air chisel, hit it from the top and bottom. Still no go. Really hate to drop the engine again. Pic doesn't show that I placed a pry bar between the Arm and the trans to counter the chisel. ![]() ![]() |

that is pretty tight..btw have you used any heat?Get yourself portable gas blow torch. It needs to be heated.that is the only way to get it off-now .Taking the engine out will not help you .it will be even harder

plan if I drop the engine and trans,
Separate trans from engine Knock off the pin from clutch fork to shaft Then just drop the whole shaft with the arm Take it to machine shop to loosen it up. Big process though. Bummer. |

i`d say use the torch..you will have a hard time to separate the engine from the trans.with the arm attached..

Use the air hammer, angled from above. Never failed me yet. Could have had it off days ago.

I applied lots of heat.. saw a bit of rust oozing
Out though that's it!! Hit it up from above like John suggested.. Still won't budge. Ahhggg..! I'll soak it with penetrating oil for now. ![]() ![]() |

Stuck clutch release lever.......
Ogi,
The clutch release lever is stuck on the clutch release cross-shaft due to heavy corrosion between these two components. You could see at the bottom of the lever the oxidation residue. Spray some penetrating oil at the top of the shaft and apply some heat as suggested earlier. You need to break the bond between the cross shaft and release lever to be able to get them separated. Apply sufficient amount of heat and at the same time tap the area where the binding is located. Repeat the process several times and observe your progress. Patience and perseverance are what you need. Good luck. ![]() Tony |

One of the first jobs I had to do on my 911…my regular bearing puller would not reach, so I fashioned a puller out of a valve spring tool and it worked like a charm…

Dig into the side of it, not the top. Use a chisel bit. Maybe your air hammer is weak or not enough line pressure.

Quasimoto..! That's exactly what's in my head..
Went to local flaps and couldn't see anything that would Work, tried trimming the end of the puller and still won't fit right. Where did you source that nifty tool? ![]() |
