1970 T Washer Jet Install

A bit of a mickey mouse question - I've been struggling to get new windscreen washer jets aligned flush with the bodywork. These jets do not have the locknuts of later models, but a sort of a narrow lip which somehow you introduce beneath the bodywork so that you get a nice seal between it and the flange above it which holds the jets. I've tried pulling, pushing twisting and so on but cannot make it flush with body work. Is there a simple way of fixing this? Its a very awkward space to work in, as usual. Lubrication? You might see from photo that the front and rear sections have been squared off and maybe that's a hint but so far no success for me.

Solved by RSTarga and Karl see Long Hood Washer Nozzle Install . We had co-incidental issues and i think out posts must have crossed. The answer is silicon grease and hot water and lots of care. Thanks guys.
