Help Identifying This Line

Hello all,

I was changing my air filter today on my 1985 3.2L Carrera and noticed what appears to be a vacuum line which has come disconnected. Can anybody tell me what it is / how critical it is / where it goes? It feels like it comes out underneath the airbox, but can't see where it would be going. Picture below.

As always, thank you for the help!

Pcv valve up behind the oil filler cap.

Looks like it might go to the oil tank recirculating air valve or charcoal canister . http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1634441586.jpg

Thank you for the replies. Indeed it does seem to be going to the "recirculating air valve" (or whatever it is called).

Unfortunately, the plot thickens ... I just pulled this out of the free end of the line. It appears to be the broken-off plastic nipple that was on the valve.

So at this point it does not seem like there is any quick way to reconnect this vacuum line. Couple of questions:

1. I see that the valve is no longer available on pelican - does anybody know of any interchangeable replacements? (I saw on one old thread that there was a part at autozone that worked? seems unlikely but worth a shot...)

2. How critical is it to have this line connected to the valve? Should I not drive the car while I wait to fix it? Or is it still driveable? (If driveable, better to plug the line completely or just leave it open?

Thanks

Chris

1. As you found out the early version of the part is NLA, 930-207-227-00. It's been superseded to 930-207-227-02 which is available.

2. I'm not an expert but I would plug the line if driving the car. On my 87, the air valve is shown on the emission sticker. I believe it controls the amount of air that can vent through the oil tank.
