Long hood washer nozzle install?

Any tricks to get this square peg in the round hole???

I tried wire to pull through (like a windshield) and it keeps breaking. Push and twist just mushes it.

Has any one enlarged the hole to a slot to do an insert and twist?

Thanks

Karl

heat it up in hot water, a little silicone grease wouldn't hurt either, pull through from below

Hot water… sounds like a good idea. I’ll try it out and report back. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've got prezactly the same problem, plus some skin missing from hands. I found access is much better if you remove the tops of the air inlet boxes but even then I could not get a good seat after pushing pulling twisting etc . Will try this remedy too in a few days or so.

Please to report that heating it up does work. Got the driver's side installed at lunch today.

Couple of notes:
1. After heating it up (I used just under boiling water), remove the little metal ball nozzles inside the rubber because they will fall out when you're pulling and twisting...
2. Pull down and twist and hold the flap up a bit with your third hand, while avoiding the hood falling on you because the struts are weak. It softly snapped in with some gentle persuasion.
3. Reinstall the little ball nozzles and metal trim cap while the rubber is still soft - you have about 2 or 3 minutes of good working time.

I was able to do the driver's side without removing the ducting just barely. Passenger side will require removing it it looks like... To the German engineer that thought that the little hog rings were a great idea for securing everything together, I don't like you. These things are a bear to remove and install - especially the non-visible ones! Bonus feature when they shoot across the room.

Good luck,

Karl

Thanks Karl and RSTarga

You're right about the ball jets popping out. It's one of those 'What was that noise?' moments, and miraculously I found mine. I've tried some lubricants but without hot water so I'll go with the silicon grease + hot water.

Done. Definitely had to remove the passenger side ducting. After doing that it was a 60 second job. No lube needed even.

Put the little check valve in while pliable too.

Good luck and thanks for the hot water suggestion.
