Question about raising the ride height in the rear of my SC
 

Good Morning All. Is it possible to properly raise the ride height in the rear of my 79' SC without adjusting the torsion bars? I know on some models it can be done at the spring plate but even if it is possible , is that the best way to do it? Only trying to avoid it because My Kuehl condenser is attached to the torsion bar cover plate and it's a bunch of extra work to gain access. Picture attached of current height in the rear in case someone asks. Thanks in advance!

You only have about an inch worth of total adjustment from the spring plate, and if you're already on the high side of the adjustment there's nothing you can do without re-indexing the bars.

Thanks David. Its actually super low. Too low. Done by the previous owner. I'd like to bring the ride height up 3/4" or so if possible without re-indexing unless it's the better way.

It really depends on how it was lowered in the first place. If it was index at the extreme end to lower it, then adjust upwards using the spring plates and the jackscrew in the front. Then you will not have many options.

The easiest thing is to try and turn the jack screw at the front to see if it raises it. Once it runs out of thread, that's it.

Thanks Alistair, raising the front was easy with the jack screw. The rear also needs to come up a bit as well.

From the factory the spring plates were set at the bottom of the range
So if the previous owner lowered it they had to re-index the TB
At that point they should have left the adjustment mid-range for fine tuning
The adjustment may raise it a bit but trying it is the only way to find out where you are
Just scribe a mark on the spring plates for reference

I dont think thats the case. All the ones I have seen/done ( a lot), the factory settings in the USA were in the middle or towards the high end. The Euro cars were on the lower side.
