Heads Up --- JWest headlight relay is wired wrong

If you buy a JWest Headlight Relay set up, is smart move to compare the wiring of the relays you get to the wiring shown on the product as PP displays it. As I write this, the install instructions are correct for the wiring in the display photo. It is incorrect for the JWest relays as I received this part.

Product on display wiring. This wiring set up is good with the install instructions.

Product's wiring I received. Compared to the product display, blue & white are flipped. Yellow & green are flipped. This set up does NOT work if the install instructions are followed. Need to "flip back" the wires noted, then the headlights work.

I went to review this and couldn't. What I found found is another fellow (Eric) who posted his receiving the same incorrectly wired JWest relays. Might be just he and I that received incorrectly wired product... or could be more of these being sold.

Thats one of the reasons I made my own. Two of the best relays and sockets I could find were less than $15.

I just received mine earlier this week and installed it the other day. re-checked and mine looks wired properly.

Here's PP thread on what I did with others adding more info. This might help with checking wiring.

Nice job on the diagram. I added an automatic 40a circuit breaker into the batt feed to the headlight relays. When a fuse goes on headlight circuit the only fix is a new fuse. The circuit breakers will come back on and hopefully keep you from crashing.

Sorry for the issue - it looks like I have tracked this down to a portion of a small quantity (like a dozen) primarily sent to Pelican.

As with all of our products, any issues encountered please come to us and we will get it taken care of right away. I sent new relays kits to 2 others.

J... admirable of you to post. Whomever did these screwed up relays should pay for the inconvenience that came with them. I don't feel bad requesting a full credit of you for the time I wasted diagnosing then having to swap the wiring.

Know that PP was called about the relays not working. I was requested to email the situation to the tech dept. Bob Tindal replied. From what he said, Pelican is not aware of the issue other than the review posted by Eric. This is said FYI.

My relay(s) have been working properly for years now...

I have a new relay from PP arriving today. Can someone post the correct view of the wiring ass it is SUPPOSED to be from Jwest? i.e. the correct wiring view. THis would allow idiots like me to visually confirm any issue upon receipt.
Thanks guys!

TS... above is how the wires should be so the instructions provided with the part can be followed. Note where the BLUE and WHITE wires and YELLOW and GREEN wires are.

A different angle to the same relay unit but this config does NOT WORK with the part's instructions. Note the position of the same wires here... their positions are swapped. If your wires look like this, simply invert the car-wire connections made to the relay's wires. In other words, do the opposite of what the instructions say concerning connections to the relay's BLUE and WHITE, then YELLOW and GREEN wires. (Yellow & green are low beams. White and blue are high beams.)

Thank you Sir! Hopefully all will be well.

JWest headlight relay wiring

My addition to this previous post that saved me. Attached is a photo of two of my JWest headlight relays that came with two "sugar scoop" H4 headlight kits from Audette. The first, on the right, is correct. The second, on the left, is not. After wrestling a bit with getting the connectors out, I just cut the wires, switched their positions and soldered everything back together, very easy. Still great quality, just be aware of the white/blue yellow/green positions.
