7 + 9 inch wheels ok on an SC

Hello

I've found a nice set of wheels from an '86 944 - 7+9x16's.

I think they have 245 tyres on the rear. Am I right in thinking they should fit well and is it ok to use 7 and 9's instead of the usual 7 and 8's or 6 and 7's?

Thanks for any help.

Hi

7's and 9's should be fine on an SC. You might want to check that the 944 offsets are the same though, someone posted a chart not so long ago, try some searches.

Cheers

I'm pretty sure that before '87 the 944's have the same offset. I was wondering more about whether 9's are too big for SC flares and if it's a problem having rear wheels 2 inches bigger than on the front.

I've looked at the table and now I'm confused again - it doesn't say wheather it's a front or rear wheel. I suppose what I really need to know is - can I take a regular set of 7+9's from an early 944 and fit them to a 911?

Are you sure the rears are 9's? (on an ordinary 944 they will be 8's)

This pdf should help http://tech.rennlist.com/911/911scfaqwheels.PDF

Thanks for the last link Roy - it seems they will fit fine. They're not Fuchs though - they're some rather nice custom built three-piece split rims. I've checked and they weigh about the same as Fuchs. They're BBS style and I'm hoping to get them anodized or powder coated in black or dark gun metal grey.

Here's a link...
