70-71 911E Hydropneumatic conversions
Newbie shopping around for a 70 or 71 911E and noticed that many of these cars have had hydropneumatic conversions often with 911S units fitted with aluminum calipers.
Can anyone tell my why this modification was done? Is this desirable? Do these conversions affect the value of the car since they are modifications? Are these modifications difficult to do? |

In fact, if you Autocross the car, the rule book from PCA says: "Hydro-pneumatic Suspension: removal of this suspension is not only allowed, but is encouraged." |
If you really want a car with a hydro-pneumatic suspension, get a Citroen.

Harry, have you seen the DS19 wagon on Craigslist in Corvallis? I have a strange urge for it.

Thank you all for helping me with this!

I recall seeing a copy of a period Porsche Parts and Accessories flyer which listed the complete conversion package. It consisted of a new cross member, torsion bars, Koni struts, and aluminum S calipers, and was sold by dealers. My 69T had this kit applied to it sometime, under a PO.

Dave,
Noticed you own a 72 911E Targa. What color? Steve |
Someone jerry rigged coil springs on my '69E hydro struts. Replaced the whole works with SC stuff.
