Broken seat belt strap covers

The rear seat belt strap covers in my 1985 911 Carrera are broken. See photo. The covers are plastic and it seems the weight of the seat belt hanging on them causes them to crack. Is there a way to prevent this?

I see replacements available on pelican, but would like to prevent this from happening again.

Hi GTSense- On Porsche Seat Belt Strap Cover (Part#: 477-857-750B). I've had no issues since replacement 11 years ago. I think the key is to have them laying as shown in the factory images/brochure. That way, there is no bending to cause edge breakdown...

From the brochure...

mine are now at 11 years since install...

Has anyone had any luck using another bolt without paying the "Porsche tax"? I wanted to delete my rear seat belts but 2 of the 4 bolts are stripped so they will need to be replaced.

SAE 7/16 UNF

From Grady Clay

A little history: USA had the first government-mandated seat belts so the specification became SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) size 7/16” UNF (Unified National Fine). It is specifically an uncommon size so common ‘hardware store’ bolts won’t fit.
SAE 7/16” UNF = 7/16” (nominal OD 0.4375”) with 20 TPI (Threads Per Inch), standardized in 1918.

Google "Schroth seatbelt bolt" for plenty of options, albeit silver or gold zinc plated. If you need black ones just to fill the holes (IIRC, you're deleting your rear seatbelts) these are $3.95 / ea...

Frank to the rescue...Thank you sir! I will give this a go on my side.

I also emailed Seatbelt Planet today and it looks like they have 7/16 x 20 fine thread bolts
