Help needed from Tonneau Cover owners
I finally found a tonneau (sp?) cover for my Cab! I knew that it would just be another accessory that people buy but of little use. Anyway, I have bought a new one (and cheap, if I may add) from another Pelicanite.
Question #1: I have studs sticking from the dash. The cover has holes that align with the studs. Do I need a special hardware that I should buy....hardware that I need to mount over the hole which will lock with the studs? ala tenax setup? If so, what is it called? Heck, it took me months to find out what Tenax fasteners. Q #2: My doors (where the driver and/or the passenger rest the elbow) have the 'male' snaps. The cover does not have the 'female/head' pieces. Am I suppose to drill holes and install the head portion? Q #3: The cover has elastic cords with 'female snap' at both ends. Where do these go? As far as the aaaargh story, it is very tight stretching/installating the cover from the dash to the rear. I am leaning towards creating new 'front' holes about an inch where the current holes exist! I do not have documentation to refer to! If somebody could chime in, or provide literature I could use would be very appreciated. As always, thanks! |

What year is your Cab? Mine's an 86. I have a tonneau cover too, but havent used it. Here is what the owners manual says regarding using the tonneau cover (hope this helps) this is word for word:
With the top down, the tonneau cover protects the interior of your car against wind, weather and inquisitive looks. For driving, the tonneau cover can be opened by means of a zipper. The rear seats cannot be used when the tonneau cover is attached Attach tonneau cover: 1) Fully recline both backrests. 2) Fully lower side windows. 3) Pull conver caps on the instrument panel off the press stud bottom parts. Make sure you dont lose the caps! 4) Put on tonneau cover like the top canvas cover. First press on the press-studs from the rear end to the doors and botton in the holding-band at the center zipper at the bottom of the hel plate. Subsequently attach the remaining press-studs at the doors and instrument panel. Caution! Before buttoning in our out, pull the press-studs. 5) Close zippers in the middle and at the doors. Open tonneau cover for driving: 1) Open zipper in the middle and at the door. 2) Loosen press-studs on the instrument panel and the door molding. Fold back front half of tonneau cover and fold in sides of cover by approximately 20 cm. Turn swen-in rubber band upward and fold half of tonneau cover forward. 3) Place seat in driving position. 4) Fasten folded cover with rubber bands to the press-buttons on the heel plate. |
