The Curse of Moses... I can't believe this.

Last night I took my 12 year old son out for a drive in my new 3.6 SC. I have about 50 miles on the conversion at this point.

Driving aggressively, but not crazy, I shift from first to second and hit the gas. I hear a nasty sounding clunk-clunk-clack-clack and various other sounds of steel parts engaging against their will.

I coast to a stop. No power to the wheels. Motor is fine, but there are no gears to be found. Tranny is AWOL. (Maybe just the linkage?) I have less than 5,000 miles on a freshly rebuilt first and second gears with new dogs teeth and synchros.

Well, my son gets behind the wheel and steers as I push the car home with the help of some great neighbors. Ah, building memories with the lad.

I will have AAA tow the car to a NEW shop this AM. I think I'll try Kahlers in Dublin. Anyone have any thoughts?

If it turns out that the Tranny is blown, at least you can consider the taller gearing.

I'll bet it's something simpler though. Clutch works fine?

Go CV joints!!!

I hope you have an easy repair ahead of you. Perhaps all that new found torque destroyed your old cv joints.

Sorry to hear this, I enjoyed hearing about your recovery yesterday and now this? Good Luck!

Owning a Porsche is much like golfing...... it's humbling.

(Just after I've shot my mouth off about a good round of golf, I'll shoot my worst game. I had to get my car push started in the parking lot of A&W last week)

AHHHH!!

Get out that magic costs-calculator...

Hope it turns out to be (real) low-cost and easy. We'll be waiting to hear.

Good one Doug.
I was thinking it's a lesson of "a chain is only as strong as the weakest link."

The impulse at a first-second shift has got to produce huge torque. I believe the turbos have beefier CV's . . . maybe something to look in to.
