oil screen nuts on engine case verdict
I have read many posts on what type of nut to use on the oil screen cover on the engine case. 2.7L enginer.
Some say use hex nuts with flat washers and lock washers, some say use flat washers and nylocks. The pet shows hex nuts, flat washers and nut washers. So which should I use? Nylocks nuts with flat washers? Regularhex nuts with flat washers and lock washers? I am leaning towards regular nuts etc as that what was on the original so there must be a reason for that rather than nylocks. But would use nylocks if that is a superior method thanks

Timely thread. Oil change screen clean and storage time. Time to visit Ace for some nuts and washers. I had considered Nyloks but will go with flat.

Make sure your plate is flat. I used a couple of different flat files to get it flat. You will see the high spots immediately. I used a straight edge ruler to make sure it was flat after filing.

And don’t overtighten the nuts when replacing as this distorts the cover leading to leaks/seeps/weeps

The Acorn nuts off of a early VW sump plate worked well for me
