Best brand of cat bypass test pipe for carrera?
what are there differences in cat bypass test pipes mad by Dansk, M+K, and Racing Dynamics? Do they all use the same gaskets and fasteners? Do most people like the change?
|
The factory gasket have to fit regardless of brand as they mate on both ends to factory parts.... Pick the one that you like and can be delivered in your timeline. We supply all of them, keep one in stock for local customers. But as long as the flanges all line up, there is not much to choose between them all...

The differences in design between manufacturers is significant.
We use a TIG welded true F1 style merge and place the O2 sensor in the mixing area where both banks are measured. The inlets are 2.25"OD tubing which is oversized to allow optimal flow. This attention to detail won't make a tremendous difference on a totally stock engine but definitely will on a modified or chipped engine. Below is a picture to compare, M&K is the bottom unit. These are pre-mufflers which have the exact same inlet design as the bypass pipe version. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1637532146.jpg Performance increase is the same for our bypass and pre-muffler. The choice depends on what sound level is preferred which also depends on which final muffler is used. |
Only the best! Scart pre muffler (Riva Stlye).

Looks like the MK has better flow which I’d guess is better suited for a chip and performance muffler. What are the gains for this configuration?
|
Steve Wong has used and tested a bunch of ours. Stock Carrera dynos at 236hp with his chip. Stock dynos at 214 so an increase of 22hp.
|
Is that 224 HP with the cat bypass? Is the stock CAI sufficient for airflow with that pipe or does the muffler restrict flow?
|
Dyno with our bypass or pre-muffler and stock final muffler is 236hp. We have an Active Exhaust version of the Pre-Muffler which partially bypasses the final muffler to remove back pressure and optimize power. It's good for an additional 5hp when chipped so that is what the final
muffler costs you. |
Having owned both a Fabspeed Pre Muffler and an M&K Pre Muffler (two M&Ks, one for my old SC and one for my Carrera), there is no comparison - M&K.
Hold them both, one in each hand examine the workmanship and materials. The M&K is superior. |
I have the M&K pre-muffler and 1in/1out muffler with wong chip and love it. Great quality and sound, at least for me. You get what you pay for.
