The sound quality isn't very good as it came from the built in mic on a laptop, but you get the idea

masraum,

Those exhaust clips of yours sound like harp music to my ears!

Did going to the flowmaster affect your SMOG check in any way? Are those audio clips recorded with a CAT or test pipe? I've been contemplating going from my stock SC setup to a 1 in 2 out flowmaster.

I've got a few... none of my own cars, though.

This one is probably my favorite. Stephen's from Imagine Auto's "Kermit" car; an early 911 with a 2.8RSR spec engine, running up thru the gears. Sweeeeet.

Thumbs up

Personally, I love the sound of Cegerer's "Gray Wolf" which sounds a lot like my car -- at least to me!

WOW!?

Masraum, is that your 3,2? Great sound! Very aggressive, but also sounds like it suffers from resonance?

Yep, that's my 3.2. I haven't had an inspection since I did the mods, but I don't think it will be a problem here in Houston since I still have the Cat. Because of the county I am in I haven't needed emissions inspection up until now, but I think that may have started for my county in the last year, so we'll see.

As I said, I still have the cat, and then I had a one in two out Flowmaster. My main goal was to get it to where when I was cruising down the freeway I could hear the exhaust some, otherwise the stock exhaust sounded OK. The flowmaster sounded good, but I thought I would try it with just the cat and no muffler, and I reallly like it (that's the first 4 clips). One note, if you want to try that you have to bolt something to the cat to get the sound out of the bumper, otherwise the sound would be unbearable. With the flowmaster on my otherwise stock exhaust there might have been a little resonance, but not much, and without the muffler there is none that I can hear (I think what you were hearing was either the sound overloading the recording level on the laptop, or if it was the in-car sound then there was something vibrating against the body of the laptop). Without the muffler at a cruising speed of anywhere from 2000-4000 rpm the sound is very quiet (relatively), but when you get on the gas it is very loud. When I have some extra cash I think I am going to have a stainless setup made with a supertrapp tip to see if I can take the edge off at WOT. It doesn't bother me, but it's loud enough so that if I pass you on the right it would probably make you drop your cell phone. One of these days I need to get a better method of recording to see if I can get more accurate sound.

I really like it, sounds like an old 60's racecar to me. I think it's probably somewhere in between SSI's with a sport muffler and SSI's with megaphones.

Amazing how you got this sound. I quite like it. Do you have a pic of the flowmeister?

Now that we're all talking 911 sound: Has anyone got a recording of a 3,2 with a dp11 muffler (one in one out 90mm DP Motorsport)?

flowmaster threads with pictures

Thinking about a new muffler...

This one has even better pics, the secret is in the shop who installs
SC with Flauwmeister sound file

Another poster also found a Flowmaster 1 in 1 out with the inlet and outlet on the same side so you can put that on without having to cut or remove your valance. I think the part is for a Roush Mustang. He gives the part number in his post.

I LOVE the sound of my stock 3.2 w/ cat after installing a Flowmaster 1 in 1 out. Thanks to MASRAUM's sound files i heard a few months back, i decided to go with this muffler/exhaust, and it's been a blast hearing my car with every jab of the throttle. No resonance, not too loud for me, but definitely an aggressive 'bite'. with some sputtering, growl at idle and raspy mechanical shriek at top RPM. Not a low frequency burble that other exhausts emit. This is the sound that i was looking for, and Steve's sound bite is what my car sounds like now.
Added benefit: Total cost for muffler and professional install $200. Can't beat that.

Thanks again, Steve
