Barn find 911 project!

So last year I heard about a lady from my old work who was looking at selling some things out of the garage after her husband passed away a few years ago, so I went over to look and see what she had for sale. Well come to find out there were a few cars under covers and one suspiciously looked like an old 911. She pulled the cover off and I began to look through it and break it down a bit. After getting all excited over this old 911 I looked at tools and plenty of other odds and ends but couldn't keep my eyes off the 911. I asked her if the car was for sale and she said yes, but warned me it hadn't ran in around 3 years and had basically sat under the cover for 4-5 years. I asked her what she wanted for it but never got a full answer so continued to look around, and before I was ready to leave she came up with a price. She told me since she wanted the car to go to a good home she would make me a deal on it, long story short I ended up leaving with it on a trailer for sub $7k. Over the past year I haven't had a chance to really work on it due to work being crazy but as of recent been really focusing on it. New brake master cylinder and new fuel tank were put in last week and waiting on some new fuel line to run to the carbs and she should be running! I previously had it running using carb cleaner then an inline pump with a gas can as the fuel source. Here are a few pictures of when I found the car and where it sits currently!32621590344660458_n1637538687.jpg[/img]

Last night I just got a set of headlights from Rennline coming as well as looking for a set of wheels to replace the Ronals on the car currently! Will be looking for a ducktail decklid as well that isnt a crazy amount of money if anybody has one for sale?

Welcome, congratulations and of course good luck!

It looks like you got a diamond in the rough that isn’t too rough.

It really isn't horrible, needs some body work and full gone through but will be a nice driver for an outlaw feel car. Plan is to just get it running an enjoy it and race it.

Nice, congrats on the buy!

What's with the vice grips on the steering wheel?

The vice grips were because the Momo was broken at the left spoke so had to make it so we could steer it without the wheel flexing so much. And thank you! I am super stoked, HUGE Porsche nerd but never thought I'd get into an air cooled 911 in my lifetime.

Anybody know if there is any actual value in the factory seats? Leather outer with cloth inlay, they are for the most part pretty clean other than a few tears on the passenger seat. Wanting to go with some sort of modern seat and possibly selling them as a set with the rear seats.

Congrats!! I think you have comfort seats. They have a low value of 2-400 for the set if you can find a buyer, if they are sport seats then they are worth much more but it doesn’t look like it from the one edge I can see. What seats were you thinking of putting in?

Very nice find. The journey has started and should be a lot of fun as it progresses toward fruition but fruition is never achieved with these cars. Or, at least so it seems.

I am not sure what I want to go with yet but leaning towards a Recaro specialist or ergomed
