WOW, 996TT ride is still fresh in my memory banks ;)

Went for a drive (as a passanger) in a new bright yellow 996TT today, car has the X50(?) power option (to make is near equal to the GT2???)

The acceleration on the on ramp onto 101 south had me pukering up a tad bit, the acceleration is mind numbing compared to anything I have driven before....called the wife and the father-in-law (P-car nut as well) to make sure they bought Lotto tickets tonight...still waiting to check them :)

Yea, I know what you mean. In San Diego we have the 1/8 miles street legal drag race and I saw two TT there, I approached the owners and started talking P-car stuff with them. I asked them if I could ride along and they said it would be fine. I thought I had wet myself. As we approached the line two TT a Camero SS and Mustang GT. The Camero and Mustang were about a second ahead of us in Stageing so they left a second before but to make a long story short they just didn't finish a second ahead of us try 4 seconds. And the ricers were very jelous. Best ride of my life.

I had the opportunity to drive a Tip-equipped black 996 TT with the X50 option ( adds 40 hp, or so?...to make what...450 hp?)...

Well, short story, I had just doubled-back on the same country route that had me see 80-85 mph in my 85 Carrera...now , over the same route, I looked down on the digital speedo readout.....105 ! ( OMG !...slow down you idiot , you;re on a country road and can easily hit an errant cow ..)

Excellent steering response too...very direct with no slop. Great ride, but curiously lacked a bit of character. Came across as a very capable modern sports "car"....as opposed to a modern "Porsche"...in some strange way.
