Old Car Strut Brace possible?

My car is early 65 without adjustable camber.
Is it possible to place a strut tower brace?

Bottom picture in instructions from Elephant Racing.

If it were my 1965, I would leave it alone! I would not be driving it hard enough to want a strut tower brace. Without some sort of triangulation they don't do much anyway....

There are some strut braces that install against the fender mount under the large washer. I think Weltmeister sold them years ago and can be found used if you look for a while or put a want to buy ad in the 911 for sale section.

There is the RSR Weld-on style as well.

I recall that the Stable Energies Camber Truss fits at least in part by attaching to the strut top housing where the rubbing bushing resides. There may be a bolt in component as well - can't quite recall.

I've run a strut brace on and off while autocrossing my 67, that's with R comp tires, and I couldn't tell the difference. Same with many other 911's I've had over the years, in fact I just installed one on my 75 because I had it laying around... no detectible change.

Since that's a 65 I wouldn't even consider it, you're missing nothing.

Not directly related to your question, but can you post a pic of your car? Is that the later Olive green color? Bet it's a beauty!

I have one up on a shelf in my garage where do you live? I think it’s a bolt on, I wouldn’t be welding on a 65 if it’s original and mint.

I have one. There is a horizontal bolt-on bar that connects to the strut tower bolts that are missing on the 1965. The triangulation is a separate piece. Two arms that butt up against the strut bushings and fasten to a plate that sits in the trunk on the sheet metal between the fuel tank and the smugglers box.

There is a used one for sale on Buy and Sell, but it is missing the horizontal bar. Not sure it really does much good without the horizontal piece. I thought the front end of my Targa was tighter with the full setup in place, but it could have easily been wishful thinking.

I have decided to leave it alone and put the brace on my 87 Targa.
I just got out ahead of myself..

I've had one on my targa -77 on and of, driven a lot of auto-x and track days. Can't tell the difference, sometime it can be useful to anchor stuff in the trunk, but most of the time its just in the way...
On my dedicated -69 track car I never fitted one. Might weld in a bar at some stage, to stiffen it up (it has coilovers).
