How much is this 993 worth?

A local shop just called to let me know about a '97 polar silver Targa they got in today. Boss says it's absolutely a cream puff, has 33k miles, super clean black interior, doesn't squeak (yeah right), yada, yada. I asked about price and he just said "probably low $40k's". I am already somewhat committed to buying a '95 C2 in as good of shape with 5k fewer miles for probably $8k less than this Targa is - and that's gonna be stretching my wallet pretty thin as it is.

I figure the faster they can get rid of this Targa, the more they'll be willing to drop the price, just make a few quick bucks off of it and have it off their hands. Is this right? What's the bare minimum they're likely to have into the car?

No need for the seller to bargain on the first day on the market. The longer it sits, the more anxious to sell.

A few years back I found a nice MB 450SL for 19,500. Said too much.
A month later, 18,500. No thanks.
A month later, my sister wants a car. I show her the SL for 16,500. She's not sure. A bit later, they dropprd the price to 15,000, and we talk them down to 13,500, and bought the car.

My sister sold it later for 15,000.

The way to get a bargain is either be first in line when the seller has it undervalued, or wait untill they get desparate.

Is this the targs with the glass panel that comes down over the rear window? I spoke to a guy who onwed one and he said he had it in teh shop several times for leaking and wind noise and said they have never gotten it right? You may want to do some research is this is systemic?

Yeah, I'm really looking for more systems in a car that can go wrong.

I just heard from another friend who was given a "first crack" at this car and he said it was not, in fact, perfect. Oh well. Looks like I'll get my C2 coupe after all.

The coupes are trading at higher prices then those targas. They're dogs to try and sell. If you buy it you're married to it.

A freind of mine work as a Porsche wrench for 20 + years.... and hated the Targa with the glass top. Just way to many problems with the top. Also I do not feel the top really opens as far as it should.

Anyone ever seen a glass-top targa on the track at a PCA event?

The coupe has your name on it, Richard.
