Need Fuchs polished after accident -
So, pulling the totaled Targa out of storage. One side of car is fine - other side plus rims are destroyed.
I have since replaced with a Coupe and have non polished Fuchs on this car. I would like to use the polished rims that are good and have two of the black rims polished again to match (or close enough). I used Alex Magro years ago and tried to contact to no avail. I would let him do it again as I was very happy with the outcome. THE QUESTION IS: Does anyone know of a shop that still does this and doesn't have a waiting list a year long? I don't need showroom quality as I drive daily. Below is the Targa before the accident as reference: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1640733995.jpg I am in Texas and checking here in San Antonio just wanted to know if anyone had someone they had used recently. Many thanks and Happy New Year everyone! Erik |
Not sure if Pete the Fuchs Guy offers polished as an option or not but he did a great job restoring my Fuchs to like new condition and would be worth reaching out to.

How much is this restoration going to cost? I ask because you could probably buy a new one and not wait... When I crashed my car :( I had to buy the front but the rear one was salvageable and it went to the restorer via the body shop so it didn't take a year.

I had good results and reasonable turnaround here:

Thanks so far for the advice.
I was actually thinking of trying to polish myself but not quite sure of what process to take. Keep reading the threads on DIY polishing but seems it would be easier for someone who knows what they are doing :) Again, thanks to everyone who has responded so far! Erik |
Another plug for fuchsrestoration
They’ve done several sets for me, all came out great. Pricing is good and turnaround time in weeks, not months or years. |

Thanks again all -
Sent off to Ed @ Fuchs Restoration... Erik |
Another plug for Fuchsrestoration, I emailed Ed about balancing issues I'm having. He replied before the end of the day with the recommendation I have my Fuchs wheels Road Force Balanced.

Update for you guys...
First, thanks again for the input. Dealing with Ed at Fuchs Restoration was great and the turnaround was excellent. He was great to talk to and very patient with me and the 100 questions I had...Would highly recommend! Will be mounting on the coupe tomorrow. Any questions feel free to PM me. They look great.
So what did they do? Did they weld a bit on then lathe and polish it back? |
Turn-around time on those was phenomenal!

The basics of it was what you mentioned... With that said, I didn't want to ask too many questions on technique, finishing, etc...I am sure each of these wheel restorers have their own secrets to rim repair and refurbishing. |
