Rear brake line how the $&@*

So I’m a newb and understand I am still getting to know cars and my car in particular, but how on earth do you get a grip on the nut at the outer section of the rubber end of the rear brake line? It is recessed down in that bracket and I just can’t get anything on it to hold still while I loosen the metal line side. I have PB blasted everything and taken out the little spring retainer clip. I’ve tried vice gripping the round metal of the rubber hose but it just ends up spinning through the vice. I have the upper (inner) joint swapped already and just need to get this connection done. Hopefully the rest aren’t this difficult. I’m swapping out my rubber hoses for braided lines. ‘85 3.2. I’ve attached a picture for reference and am open to all ideas. Thanks in advance for any help.

Once you remove the spring clip, the line is free to move through the hole in the trailing arm. This provides the room necessary to get a wrench on either side of the line.

If you are worried about flexing the hard line, unbolt the caliper and move the whole assembly or remove the hard line from the caliper.

You can get an angled flare nut wrench on it.

I just did this. I got enough bite on that on mine with a regular open-ended craftsman to break the flare nut on the opposite side loose, then the clip came off, and it was easy enough to get the wrench all the way on there.

Once you remove the clip, the line can move.

Give it a couple taps if it is stuck.

Thanks everyone. I pulled the clip and still couldn't get it to stay locked in the wrench. Needed a helper. the 3rd hand really helped. I got it all finished though I'm happy it is all over.

Glad you got it off.
Whenever I have a rubber line that is difficult to remove, and it will be replaced anyway, I use tin shears to cut it off at the fitting. Then use a 6pt deep well socket.
