dragging brakes

Recently resurrected 88 911. Changed all the brake flexible lines and flushed the fluid. Good hard pedal. Drove it about 75 miles no issues. Great brakes, and I tested them a number of times. This weekend I changed the front struts. Stretched the lines a bit but not a lot as I removed the brake line clip to give me just enough slack.

Drove another 50 miles or so no issues. As I was getting home today I noted the car was not coasting very well. As I made the last mile to my garage, the brakes were really on. Put it on the lift and all four wheels were locked up. Opened a bleeder and relieved some pressure and everything was back to normal. I drove it around the block, jammed the brakes a bunch of times and its perfectly normal. No noticable fluid loss in reservoir.

I am thinking the master is going or maybe the pedal the didn't return all the way? I wish I would have thought to reach down and pull up on the pedal. Brakes aren't something I like to skimp on. I have had single calipers lock up, I have had master cylinders loose pressure, but I have never experienced all four locking up. The brake pedal had very little play at the top, now it seems more "normal" with a little more play at the top. Any thoughts?

pushrod on master cylinder is misadjusted. Adjust it so that there's a little more pedal free play.

Thanks. I will check that out. That would make heel to toe easier too! Damm near impossible now.

I experienced same basic problem. All 4 wheels were getting hot after only a short drive and I could feel just a bit of braking resistance when coasting just after applying the brakes. Brake pedal was physically sticking within the pedal box. Pedal wouldn’t return back all the way. I could reach down and pull the brake pedal back up an inch or more. Original bushings in the pedal box appeared to be swollen. Rebuilt the pedal box - problem solved.
