Aux air regulator testing
How can i tell if the aux air regulator is operating properly? the manuel says to pinch of the hose but good luck finding a place to do so and if you can the rubber is to hard to dare try and give it a pinch with out cracking it. I remember reading if you remove it and stick it in the freezer it for a short time it should open up, my question is how much should it open. at the present mine only opens half way after being chilled in the freezer, is this enough? has anyone done this before and what info do you have. My 80' sc starts hard cold it will not fast idle, it pops back through the pop of valve and you cant rev it or it gets worse if i let it idle for 5 min. it runs fine , whats up?

I removed my AAR and put it in the freezer. The valve opened but when it came to closing, it did not close completely. I connected it to the 12 volts at the engine and watched it slowly close. Too lazy to connect a voltmeter. A light tap released the rotary vane and helped it come to a close. This is one of the things I'll buy with the PCA $100 cert... There is another thread where someone drilled the rivets and bent the spring to extend the life. You might want to search some more.
