Guess where I was?

Was traveling out west this past week (Seattle and L.A.) and had a few moments to spare on the way to the airport when in Seattle. Stop by Jonny Walkers Workshop. Could only stay about 10 minutes but had a chance to meet John personally.

Great guy and very knowledgeable (like we don't already know)! He had a couple of cool projects in the shop (VW Beetle cab with custom tubular suspension and 2.7 with webers and VW Bus soon to receive 3.2/915, if I rememeber correctly), in addition to some customer cars - he was working on a nice turbo.

I gotta say that if I ever needed someone to work on my car and I was remotely close to Seattle I would go to John's shop.

John, if you read this it was a pleasure to meet you!

Here's a couple pics from the outside:

Can we clone this guy. I know Raleigh is small but it's growing pretty fast. I could really use a John Walker right now! That shop is as pretty as those cars parked in front...

I stopped in for a few moments (unexpected) just a couple of weeks ago. And I must say John was very personable. I needed a couple of crush washers and John was quick to hand me some at no charge. He even gave me two license plate frames and a gold sticker for the tool box......no charge. I know it's free advertising for him but believe me, I am happy to advertise his business. A great guy and a pleasure to meet if only for a moment. John, I know you probably don't even remember me, and my boy Michael, stopping by but believe me, you stopping what you were doing (making a living) just to chat meant a lot. Thanks. I know I will ned some help and I know who I will call first. Steve (poorsha@shaw.ca)

I was just there last Sunday as JW was trying to get a bit of work done on his own projects. Even though he was busy, he still found time to greet me and chat.

PS... John... Glenn and I drank your beer! Get you next time when you're not so busy ;)

Every time I see bamboo blinds I suspect a fellow traveller is having much too much fun behind 'em. Dont ask me why ;-)

Dear John,

Those of us who know MM86911 are sorry you were not warned he was coming. Hopefully you were able to escape meeting him without learning about his love for old Chargers, hemis and other throwbacks. In future we will let you know when MM86911 is travelling.

Sorry,

Actually, we have cloned him. His name is Jim Elliason and he is head mechanice and owner at European Performance. 851.5084.

No affiliation, just years of excellent service.
