911SC Hoses

All, I have a 1979 911 SC and I want to change out all the oil lines and fuel lines in the engine compartment. Does anyone have a master list of part numbers to make it easy to order?

Thanks!

First of all, if you don’t already have the Porsche Katalog PDF, you need to download it from here:

https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessoriesandservices/classic/genuineparts/originalpartscatalogue/

Pick your series/year and download the searchable PDF with table of contents. Best free thing you’ll ever get from Porsche I reckon.

I’m (slowly) finishing up an extensive reno on my wife’s 79SC which included replacement of every single fuel and injector line, as i am terrified of the car-b-que scenario that a few unfortunate others have experienced. I can pull up the fuel lines parts list off my Excel tracking sheet if you can wait a day or two. But you have to post a pic of your ride as recompense.

Regarding oil lines, I went with SSI heat exchangers which required backdating of some of the oil lines, so i don’t have the list of all the stock oil lines in excel; but you can find them in the Katalog. I’d replace the rubber oil hoses like the S hose, and perhaps the lines with rubber sections if thise are getting soft/spongy, but IIRC there are some that are metal end-to-end and those should be OK to re-use.

I just went through this on my 83 SC. Some of the fuel lines that are combined hard line with a rubber section are going to be impossible to find or really expensive if you find them. You may have to send those out to a rebuilder to replace the rubber sections with new hose instead so dont throw them out.

Fortunately I found a local shop who specializes in drag car lines and managed to rebuild all my fuel lines and vacuum lines for a very reasonable price.

If you want "Factory Level" Lines in appearance with better than factory E-85 Rated components (Not the outdated stuff available from most suppliers) I can help you.

Most consider my Hoses & Lines an improvement over most anything else.

I have fixtures for the CIS lines and optional Rubber Covers for the Polyamide tube available today.

Please email me ONLY. My pm box is almost always full.

General comment from 10,000 ft.
The one aspect of the 911 G body design that screams for an aftermarket upgrade instead of the manufacturing cost constrained OEM approach is the fuel & oil lines.

If you track your car;
X 10 and don't be that guy that dumps 11 qts of oil, big tires do lots of damage.
X 100 for a turbo car.

Here is what I offer for the Rear Oil Lines to prevent dangerous tire rub with "Fat" Rear Tires.....

For details, please email me.

OK, this is my list filtered for the Katalog pages which contain fuel lines (along with other parts), and sorted by illustration . There's a bunch of bits and pieces that I acquired for this project in addition to just fuel lines so you may want to ignore those.

Unfortunately the copy & paste from Excel doesn't format nicely here. But if you copy the info below and paste into a Notepad file and save as a .CSV, then open in Excel it should format properly. To make the csv work I replaced all commas with "..."

Or just PM with your email and I'll send you the Excel file.

Whatever you do, DON'T throw out any of the old fuel lines until you have the replacements in hand and have carefully compared them!

One of the fuel lines was NLA (930-110-514-00, illustration 107-10 position 62) so I had Len Cummings (he posted earlier in this thread) build a new one using the metal parts from my old line. That particular line had protective sheathing and I was able to order a silicone hose with the correct ID to ship straight to Len and he used it in the assembly (he might offer this as an option now, check with him). It turned out very nicely.

Good luck with the project!

cheers/bc

How much pressure builds up in 73.5 CIS fuel pump line going to the accumulator and fuel filter? I replaced my fuel hoses before but noticed that one particular line was cracking.
Thanks

Randy-

The CIS system can produce as much as 100 psi and must have the correct hose and crimps. In fact, most of the late CIS Lines are actually Polyamide Tube with a rubber cover.

If you can show us here or email me with photos of your specific line I/we can help to correct this.

Most of my replacements are duplicates of the factory, and will last for the lifetime of the car, or at least close to it.

Bighead,

You will be saving some money if you make or build your CIS fuel lines. But for peace of mind, let the professional do the fuel injection lines for you. I have made and fabricated a lot of fuel lines for my work but will never sell them to others. It takes special skill and fabrication set up to be successful in this kind of work.

The amount of money you saved is not work the risk you are taking by making them yourself. It is your car and the decision is all yours.

Here is a pic of the line. I replaced my fuel lines before and took them to a local hose shop and this is what was done. It was the same as the factory line but I guess I didn't know much difference in the crimping process. The hose was starting to crack while I was working on the fuel pump. The metal part of the line goes up into the fuel accumulator, the rubber is connected to the CIS fuel pump check valve I believe... I hope this isn't a picture that I've already posted on this particular post...
Thanks

Your photo was posted earlier on another thread, but is now directly above.

For the 73 1/2 CIS system the factory used Crimps at the Fuel Pump and clamps at the Steel Feed Line coming through the Chassis Frame Rail.....

This was a continuation of the Hose Layout for MFI and Carbs of earlier models.

Apparently Porsche determined that with the elevated Fuel Pressures of the new CIS, clamps were inadequate, and for all later models the entire system received crimped fittings and the Hoses were routed above the inner rear crossmember so complete assemblies could be used.

Our concern today is about the rubber compound used with the original hoses.

With today's Ethanol fuels, these hoses are not holding up and improved rubber compounds had to be developed.

Please email me. I have what you need and am happy to help to bring this fuel system up to E-85 rating.

Hi Ian,

email is: len dot cummings @ verizon dot net

I get messages every day so it should work.

Please try again. I will email you as well, though going through the Pelican email link sometimes is the problem, and may not work.

Len
